Denver Pioneer attack Zach Miller had plenty of hype attached to his name when he set foot on campus last fall. On Thursday, Miller proved the hype was warranted, being named Freshman of the Year by Inside Lacrosse Magazine.
"We are obviously thrilled that Zach has been recognized for his amazing freshman year," head coach Bill Tierney said. "When we recruited him, we anticipated that he would be a very good Division I player, but could never have imagined how quickly he would adjust to Matt Brown's offensive system and flourish.
Miller garnered national attention due to his stellar play, scoring 57 points on 38 goals and 19 assists. He played his best games in big moments, scoring four goals against Villanova to help the Pioneers earn their first Big East Championship in school history.
Based on their performance last year, Inside Lacrosse has projected the Pioneers as a top-five team in Division I Lacrosse in 2015.
