DENVER - Denver Broncos cornerback Bradley Roby was named AFC Defensive Player of the Week for his performance Sunday against the San Diego Chargers in Denver.
The Broncos won the game 27 to 19.
Roby's award represents the first conference recognition of his career and the second AFC Defensive Player of the Week honor for the Broncos this season. Outside linebacker Von Miller won the award in week two.
Making his first start of the season Sunday, Roby totaled two passes defensed and an interception returned for a touchdown against the Chargers. His 49-yard pick-sic in the second quarter gave Denver a 10 to 7 advantage and the Broncos would hold on to the lead for the remainder of the game.
Roby's recognition is the 32nd time a Broncos defensive player has earned conference player of the week honors since the award began in 1984.
