Broncos quarterback "peys" out over $1 million in grants

KUSA - Not only is Peyton Manning a rock star on the football field, he's a philanthropic favorite for 153 charities. The Broncos quarterback's Foundation has awarded over $1 million in grants to youth-based community agencies in four states, including 81 charities in Colorado.

"The mission and work of the PeyBack Foundation is something we are very passionate about and to be able to continue our growth through increased giving is very rewarding. This year, we are fortunate to be able to provide our largest donation total of $1 million to youth based community organizations. With this donation, now collectively throughout the years, we have awarded over $5.6 million in grants to 995 youth organizations in Colorado, Tennessee, Louisiana and Indiana." said Peyton Manning, PeyBack Foundation President.

The Peyback Foundation 2014 grants will be distributed to youth based organizations in Colorado, Tennessee, Louisiana and Indiana. The PeyBack Foundation received 604 applications this year — 81 youth related charities throughout Colorado will receive $630,000, 32 Tennessee organizations will receive $175,000, 23 Louisiana organizations will receive $120,000 and 17 Indiana organizations will receive $75,000.

The PeyBack Foundation, a public non-profit corporation, was established by Peyton Manning in 1999 to promote the future success of disadvantaged youth by assisting programs that provide leadership and growth opportunities for children at risk. The PeyBack Foundation has provided more than $10 million of impact to at risk youth through its grants and programs since its inception.

Some of the Colorado organizations being presented grants include:

  • A Precious Child - Devoted to making a positive impact in the lives of disadvantaged and displaced children and families by improving their quality of life.
  • GreenLeaf - To cultivate powerful youth and food justice through urban agriculture.
  • Environmental Learning For Kids - Cultivates a passion for science, leadership and service in a diverse community of learners
  • The Colorado "I Have A Dream" Foundation - Believe that every child deserves a quality education and every child has a fundamental right to reach their highest potential.

Requests for grants are accepted from non-profit agencies and organizations actively advancing the welfare of disadvantaged children in Colorado, Tennessee, Louisiana and Indiana. All requests for financial assistance are given careful consideration by the PeyBack Foundation and grants are awarded based on the unique merits of the individual agency, its goal, mission and programs. Each organization must complete a PeyBack Foundation grant application to be considered. Grant application information will be available online at www.peytonmanning.com in September.
