DENVER - The Denver Police officer who was shot six times during a traffic stop last December will be honored at Monday night’s Broncos game.
The Denver Broncos announced that Officer Tony Lopez Jr. will be named a Broncos Country Hero during the first quarter break.
Lopez Jr. underwent multiple surgeries in wake of the shooting. The paramedics who administered three tourniquets on his limbs after the shooting are credited with saving his life, as is his bulletproof vest.
Lopez Jr. and his wife welcomed their first child back in May.
The Broncos take on the Texans Monday night. You can watch the game at 6:30 p.m. on Channel 20.
