Fun facts about the Broncos and the NFL Draft

KUSA - Thursday marks the start of the 79th NFL Draft. The Denver Broncos hold the 31st pick. Here are some fun facts you may not have known about the Broncos draft history.

The Broncos have 7 selections, all theirs, none from trades ... so far.

Nineteen of the 23 picks made by John Elway are still with the team.

2011 is the year most look at as the most successful in the Elway era, among the picks, Von Miller, Orlando Franklin, Julius Thomas, and Rahim Moore.

The Broncos have selected 39 players in the first round since the inception of the common draft back in 1967.

The Broncos have selected 21 players from schools from the state of Colorado. CU is the leader in the clubhouse with 14 picks.

The last in-state player picked by the Broncos was Colorado State University quarterback Bradlee Van Pelt back in 2004.

Now for some not-so-fun facts:

The draft starts this Thursday with the first round.

Denver will have two more picks on Friday and their final four choices on Saturday, if they don't make a trade.
