Broncos linebacker Todd Davis fined $18,231 for horse collar

ENGLEWOOD—The NFL slapped Denver Broncos’ linebacker Todd Davis with an $18,231 fine for his horse collar tackle Sunday in a 27-7 win against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Davis, the Broncos’ second-leading tackler to fellow inside linebacker Brandon Marshall, got his hand caught inside the collar area of Bucs' running back Charles Simms early in the fourth quarter.

Davis was penalized 15 yards for the infraction and now he’s been penalized again. The league has issued the exact $18,231 fine for each of its four horse-collar penalties this year.

Davis, who is making the second-year minimum $600,000 salary this year, is expected to appeal the fine.

Davis has 20 tackles, a half sack and three quarterback hits in the Broncos’ 4-0 start. Only Marshall has more tackles with 25.
