ENGLEWOOD - Given the finicky nature of back injuries, any celebration regarding the return of Aqib Talib would be premature.
Still, Talib’s talent is so enormous, his personality so magnanimous, even on getaway day his mere presence on the practice field Tuesday gave the Broncos a jolt.
“It’s his attitude,’’ said Broncos head coach Gary Kubiak. “He’s just such a positive play-making, energy guy. Aqib is a loud guy, a personality, but it’s all about football when he’s out here. He’s very bright. We missed him. It’s great to have him back and it’s just great to know that he’s feeling well.”
Talib felt his back go during pregame warmups of the Broncos’ 27-9 win against the Houston Texans on Oct. 24. Adrenaline allowed him to play all but one defensive snap in that game, but he missed the next three games.
He took an injection in a troublesome disc/lumbar on Nov. 2 and returned to practice 13 days later. Now the back has to hold up. After testing it Tuesday, Talib will be available to rest through the bye week before returning Monday to resume preparations for the Broncos’ Sunday night game Nov. 27 against Kansas City.
Talib, 30, was playing on an All Pro level before his back went out on him.
“He’s feeling good,’’ Kubiak said. “The injection was a successful thing that they did. I know how excited he is about the last six weeks, so it’s good to see him get some work in. We’ll pick it up again next week.”
