Denver turns burgundy and blue for Avalanche

DENVER - The City of Denver is ready for the Colorado Avalanche's return to the playoffs.

Denver Mayor Michael Hancock proclaimed this week "Burgundy and Blue Week."

Avalanche fans in Denver and across the state are being encouraged to wear burgundy and blue.

The City and County Building has been illuminated in burgundy and blue lights this week.

The Denver International Airport sign on Peña Boulevard is also in burgundy.

The "great wall" at the Denver Pavilions is illuminated burgundy in honor of the Avs too.

The Avalanche will play the Minnesota Wild in the first round of the NHL playoffs. It's the team's first playoff appearance in four years.

Game One will be at the Pepsi Center on Thursday at 7:30 p.m.
