KUSA- He's back. Matt Duchene returned to the ice for the first time since March 29th when he strained his medial collateral ligament in his left knee. It wasn't the usual easing back into game action though.
"Still pretty far away but still able to make some plays," Duchene said following the Avalanche 5-2 loss to the Wild. "I've got to find as close to my "A" game as possible. I felt it start to come as the game went on, it's going to happen."
Duchene finished the night with one point and 18:52 on the ice. A lot more playing time than was anticipated from the Avs leading scorer.
"I went four weeks without a game then jumped into game six, it's not easy on the road," Duchene added. "It was tough mentally and that was something I really had to battle through. It was more of a mental battle than a physical battle."
It wasn't the result Duchene was hoping for but the fact that he was able to play so well gives the Avalanche fans a lot of confidence going into game seven.
