Nathan MacKinnon sits down with 9News Sports

(DENVER) – Top draft picks in the NHL usually spend their first few years with teams struggling to make the playoffs. Colorado Avalanche forward Nathan MacKinnon is thankful he won't have that problem in his rookie year.

"We have a lot of good players, whether it be through drafting, free agency, or trades," said MacKinnon. "It's been great. We have such good chemistry, on and off the ice, and I think that translates to lots of wins."

MacKinnon just finished a week in which he broke Wayne Gretzky's record for consecutive games with a point by a player 18 years old or younger (the new record is 13 consecutive games). The Avalanche rookie sat down with 9News sports reporter Rod Mackey following his big week.
