KUSA – Most will remember Paul Stastny as the Colorado Avalanche hero from playoff Game One.
After all, Stastny scored the game winning goal in overtime, just a short time after scoring the equalizer with 13.4 seconds left with their goalie pulled. Stastny was certain the star, but not the only one.
Erik Johnson may have made the biggest play Friday night. With time winding down and Colorado down one, Patrick Roy pulled his goalie to get the extra skater.
The risk, of course, giving up an empty net goal, and it looked like the Minnesota Wild had one, when Erik Johnson came from nowhere to knock the puck away inches away from it going in.
"Maybe a couple of inches," said Johnson of how close it was to going in. "That's just one of those desperation plays you have to make for the good of the team."
Had the puck gone in, the game was over. It didn't, allowing Stasty to score the game-tying goal and the game-winning goal. Game One was what you call a team win.
