KUSA - Opening Day is around the corner and the Colorado Rockies have finalized their 25-man roster, making room for Colorado native, Kyle Freeland, on the mound and sending Miguel Castro out.
Freeland, a left-handed pitcher from Denver, was selected to the Rockies 2017 Opening Day 25-man roster after designating right-handed pitcher, Miguel Castro, for assignment. Castro a hard-throwing relieve-pitcher joined the Rockies in July 2015 as part of the Rockies' big Troy Tulowitzki trade to the Toronto Blue Jays for Jeff Hoffman, Jose Reyes and Castro.
Castro still healthy, has struggled with the Rockies and their Triple-A team the Albuquerque Isotopes in his past year with the two teams.
Freeland, a graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School, will make his major league debut in his hometown Monday as part of the overall 40-man roster this season.
The team also placed six players on the 10-day disabled list.
