The club on Tuesday announced the signing of Thomas, a former starter for Wigan Athletic in England and a veteran of the Honduras national team.
"Thank God for this new opportunity with Colorado Rapids, my new team," Thomas said Sunday in Spanish on Twitter.
Hendry fell out of favor with Wigan coach Roberto Martinez two seasons ago, and appeared in just two games for the Latics last season. But he has more than 50 EPL starts on his resume.
"He's a solid person and I wouldn't like to lose him," Martinez told the Wigan Evening Post in January.
