KUSA - Yoga comes in many forms, as demonstrated in the latest edition of Wargin's Workouts.

Denise Cook from Denise Cook Yoga explained her new class at Illuminate Gym in Greenwood Village called Spin and Yin Yoga.

The Yin practice embraces a longer holding of seated postures, helps to create healthier joints and blood flow through them. Most yoga and exercise primarily works the muscles which are mostly water. The tendons and ligaments are collagenous and stretching them needs to be slow and steady.

The seated postures are held 3-5 minutes and the body becomes more flexible all over as a result.  This benefit decreases injury and the risk of injury is lessened because they are not so tight and brittle.

According to Denise, this type of yoga is prefect for bikers and runners who typically have tight hips and hamstrings.
