KUSA - Eighteen months ago, Kendra Figueroa was more than 100 pounds overweight and struggling to pursue the active lifestyle she deeply desired. After many frustrating years of trying to eat right and exercise, she opted for gastric bypass surgery. Now she can't stop running.

Kendra has lost over 120 pounds since February 2010 and will be taking on her first ½ marathon on May 15th in the Colorado Colfax marathon. Kendra, along with her bariatric surgeon, Dr. Michael Snyder visited the 9News studios to talk about her surgery at Rose Medical Center and how her new and improve fitness and changes her life.

Kendra and Dr. Snyder are both running the 13.1 miles along Colfax and she won't stop with this race: along with a few sprint triathlons and century bike events, Kendra also plans to run the full Rock & Roll Marathon in Denver in October and hopes to compete in an Ironman before she turns 50.
