Contact Kirk Montgomery
Entertainment Anchor Kirk Montgomery began the adventure at 9NEWS in 2001. The four-time Emmy-award winner can be seen daily during his E-Block reports on the 4 p.m. and 9 p.m. newscasts or as news breaks.
Kirk grew up outside of Detroit, Mich. His broadcast career has taken him from his home state, to Florida, California and now Colorado.
Besides journalism, Kirk also enjoys acting. Kirk is the king of "Don't blink or you'll miss him" performances.
Who can forget his appearances in "Ed," "Third Watch," " Phantom of the Mall: Eric's Revenge," "21 Jump Street," and "ER"? You can of course.
Kirk then graduated to "Don't yawn or you'll miss him" performances (It takes longer to yawn than blink). His stunning use of the craft on "General Hospital" when he said "What'll ya have?" quickly lead to other riveting performances, like his portrayal of a cafe patron on "Days of our Lives" when he uttered the words "Keep it" to a flattered waitress.
That career-defining moment led to his next small screen appearance in NBC's blockbuster one-season hit "The Event" where he is briefly seen in a quad-screen with five other TV anchors uttering the classic line " This just in ... "
Kirk's film career has been equally successful, appearing in the motion pictures "Suburban," "A Gathering of Heroes," "Serpent Rising," "Tengu: The Immortal Blade," "Fishing Naked" and "Oracle." None of these films have yet to make it to the big screen.
His stage work has fared better. Having appeared on stage in "Love Letters," "Stories on Stage," "The Laramie Project," "Spaulding Gray: Stories Left Untold," "My Mama Monologues" and "The Shadow Box."
Kirk likes to sing. In the shower. And has recorded a few albums for charity. And has shared a stage with a number of local musicians, but demands a shower curtain on stage with him.
Kirk enjoys living in downtown Denver with his best friend Joey, a cocker spaniel he rescued from the Larimer County Humane Society.
Kirk loves to tell the good news of Colorado's Entertainment Community and have a little fun along the way.
