Cheryl Preheim is the weekend evening anchor at 9NEWS.

Cheryl began reporting for 9NEWS in August of 1998, but her first experience in the 9NEWSroom was as a college intern. She is a graduate of the University of Colorado.

Her first job in journalism was at NewRadio 850 KOA. There, she worked her way up through the ranks. She worked as a producer, writer, reporter and fill-in anchor for Colorado's Morning News.

Cheryl has been honored with the prestigious National Edward R. Murrow award three times. She has been awarded six Regional Edward R. Murrow awards. Cheryl has won nine Emmy awards, including a nod for Best Anchor, in-depth news story, and for a half-hour documentary about her trip to Haiti. Cheryl wrote and produced the special, "From Haiti to Home."

She has also won numerous awards from the Colorado Broadcaster's Association and the Associated Press.

The Olympics have been a favorite assignment for Cheryl. She covered the Summer games in London, England and the Winter Games in Sochi, Russia. She says she has loved the opportunity to profile Colorado Olympians like gold-medal swimmer Missy Franklin and gold-medal skier Mikaela Shiffrin.

Outside of work Cheryl loves to spend time with her family, including her three young children, her friends and working with many community organizations. Cheryl has worked closely with the Ronald McDonald House for more than 18 years. It provides a "home away from home" for children who are facing life-threatening illnesses.

Cheryl helped launch the "Never Shake A Baby" campaign through 9NEWS, Children's Hospital Colorado, and the KEMPE Foundation.
