In 2009, Kevin traded the Adirondack Mountains for the Rocky Mountains when he moved to Colorado from New York. Kevin lived in Central New York his entire life and spent half his career there before joining the 9NEWS team.

Aside from covering general assignment reports, Kevin manages and contributes to the station's feature franchise "Storytellers."

It's safe to say no other reporter at the station has traveled Colorado as much as Kevin has. He's been to every corner of the state and most of its communities in between.

While he loves to cover general-assignment stories, Kevin's true passion lies in feature reporting; especially when it comes to small town stories. Kevin grew up in a small town just outside of Utica, N.Y.

Kevin's storytelling and reporting have earned him more than 60 awards, including five Emmy Awards, an Edward R. Murrow Award and two Colorado Broadcasters Awards. Kevin was also a finalist for the National Press Photographers Association prestigious 'Reporter of the Year' award in 2014.

More recently, Kevin won three Emmy Awards (in 2014) including an Emmy for Best Writer. Aside from writing his own stories, Kevin also shoots and edits a majority of his pieces.

Kevin has managed the station's award-winning 'Storytellers' segment for the last two years. Storytellers airs every Sunday night at 10 p.m. and occasionally throughout the week during random newscasts.

More than anything, Kevin loves being on the road for work. His favorite days at work are when he's four hours away from the newsroom.

Prior to joining the 9NEWS team, Kevin was a reporter at WSYR-TV in Syracuse, N.Y. and WWNY-TV in Watertown, N.Y.

Since 2009, he's had a chance to visit a good chunk of Colorado. You can read about his adventures by visiting his website: www.kevintorres.com.
