AURORA - Fantastic flavors, cultural experiences and artistic expression abound at Global Fest coming Saturday, August 23.

This new event will take place in the heart of the city at the Aurora Municipal Center, 15151 E. Alameda Parkway. From noon until 10 p.m. event-goers will experience a diverse array of performances from across the globe, a colorful parade of national flags, and cultural exchanges through food and drink. Stop by the world reading room to discover an international literary piece.

Visit the Main Stage to see community groups perform dance and theater pieces. The evening really heats up beginning at 6 p.m. when featured performers take the stage; take in an exciting show while tasting international beverages.

Event organizers are bringing people together from around the world who call Aurora home.

"This event is about creating a day where heritages are recognized and celebrated for the beauty they bring to the city," said Roberto Venegas, Assistant City Manager for Intergovernmental Relations. "Aurora is a place where you can hear 10 languages and enjoy flavors and foods from Ethiopia to Vietnam just by driving a few blocks through town."

• Noon – Parade of Nations & Posting of National Flags

• Noon – 6 p.m. World Reading Room, History Exhibits, Cultural Exchange Theater

• Noon – 10 p.m. Food Row, Arts & Crafts Pavilion, Information Station

• 12:30-5 p.m. – Main Stage: Community & Small Group Performances

• 5 p.m. – Sister Cities International Signing Ceremony Between Aurora and Adama, Ethipia

• 6-10 p.m. – Main Stage: Featured Performing Artists

There will be lots of local food vendors, performers, exhibits, music, a cultural exchange stage and much more.

Cultural Exchange Stage – This stage will feature a variety of cultural experiences from an international fashion show featuring more than 14 countries to a diverse offering of cooking demonstrations all with world flair. Toss in some martial arts demonstrations and a few other surprises and you have the makings of a truly entertaining and educational schedule.
