GRAND JUNCTION - When the Rifle man who won the $90 million Powerball jackpot let his boss know, the first thing his boss said was "OK, he's not coming in."
The winner has been identified as Claude. G (he didn't want to share his last name). This week, he's celebrated his birthday, his 33rd wedding anniversary and now, he's a millionaire.
He accepted the check on Wednesday afternoon with his wife, Jackie, and mother, Marie. During a news conference, Claude said he found out that he won by watching channel 9.
Claude said the numbers were quick picks, and that his wife and daughter picked up the tickets. They're both still in shock about the win, but they know they're going to "have fun" with the money.
More than anything, he said he's still trying to figure out what it's going to mean to him.
The word that he won spread around Rifle quickly, and Claude says his family locked the ticket away for several days once it was signed.
Claude said he and his wife plan to go on vacation with their new windfall.
