DENVER - Many assume foods sold at health stores and in the health-food section at grocery stores are good for them.

9Health Reporter Dr. John Torres says not necessarily. Many of the foods we might not think are healthy are actually not.

Dr. John offers these examples:

  1. Vitamin Water contains 32 grams of sugar and 120 calories. Dr. John recommends just water.
  2. Granola has added fats and sugars. Plain, regular oatmeal is a great substitute.
  3. The main ingredient in veggie chips is potatoes. They also have the same amount of calories and fat as regular, plain chips.
  4. Pretzels also have added salt. They also don't contain the right amounts of fiber and protein.
  5. Regular peanut butter also has added sugars and oils. Dr. John recommends using all-natural peanut butter.
