DOUGLAS COUNTY - No arrests have been made, but all three trained German Shepherds stolen from a kennel in Douglas County have now been located and returned home safely.

The Douglas County Sheriff's Office said the third and final dog stolen from a Larkspur kennel sometime overnight May 30 was located in the town of Palmer Lake Tuesday morning.

Authorities had received a tip of a dog possibly whining in an abandoned house. When they arrived to check it out, they found the purebred German Shepherd, Duke.

Spokesperson Ron Hanavan with the Sheriff's Office said the dog seemed fine, although he was a little underweight.

The dog has been returned to the kennel from which he was stolen last month, Gunbil German Shepherds in Larkspur.

The kennel's owner told 9NEWS that two of the dogs taken were "basic trained," meaning they are house pets or for show. The owner said the other dog was "specialty trained" with some military and search-and-rescue training.

The other two stolen dogs were located within a week. One was found June 5 tethered to a fence on some property about a half mile from the kennel.

The dog was dehydrated, weak, and underweight, but veterinarians said he would be okay.

The other stolen canine was found in a homeowner's garage in the town of Palmer Lake on June 2.

The Sheriff's Office thanked the public for tips that led to the safe return of the canines.
