DENVER - If you need some extra incentive to get off the couch this spring, here's your chance.
LiveWell Colorado's 2nd annual Get Movin' Challenge starts May 1st.
The program encourages participants to complete 30 minutes of physical activity every day for 30 days straight. You can register at getmovinchallenge.org. If you log your activity you'll be entered to win prizes.
This year there's a new spin. Cities will be competing for the title of "most active" in the state.
Organizers say you don't have to run a marathon to participate. Taking a walk or going for a bike ride is enough as long as you're active.
LiveWell Colorado Interim CEO Gabriel Guillaume says several success stories came out of last year's program and that some participants started habits that lasted much longer than 30 days.
"Now they're physically active every day, or at least most days of the week and it's making a difference; not only in the way they feel, but in the way they're able to do their job and the way they're able to interact with their family. It's a great way to improve lives," Guillaume said.
