Aaron is the high school sports reporter for 9NEWS. He is very excited to cover the preps scene in a great sports market.

Prior to KUSA Aaron worked at WICD-TV in Champaign, IL covering the Fighting Illini as well as a ton of high school sports. The mountains are a shock to the system after living amongst the flat corn fields of Central Illinois! His first job out of college was in La Crosse, WI, a beautiful town right on the Mississippi River. Aaron's reporting won awards both in Illinois and Wisconsin and he is excited to bring his passion for telling stories to Denver.

Aaron married his college sweetheart, Kelsey. They are both graduates of Indiana University and hope to find a few other Hoosier fans here in Colorado. They live in Denver with their 3 daughters. 1 is an actual human daughter, the other are 2 are four legged daughters that are treated and spoiled as if they were real children. He works in sports for balance. He gets to do something 'manly' with his day job before returning to a house full of females. As a family, the Matas' (or Matai- this is the accepted and made up plural version of Matas) enjoy just about anything outdoors. That pretty much makes Denver a perfect fit. At the same time, catching a movie, watching TV, or going out to test local restaurants are some of their favorite activities as well!

Feel free to contact Aaron for any reason. The best stories come from the viewers and he would love to hear from you! Drop him a line to say hello, talk some sports, pass along a story idea, suggest a great place to eat, or even tell him his shirt and tie look ugly in HD! You can also follow him on Twitter at @AaronMatas. The march to a Mile High Million followers starts with you
