Police say the driver of the first vehicle that hit the man did not stop. Police later arrested Uriel Lopez-Ramirez on I-25 near Hwy. 52 after he was stopped for speeding and authorities recognized the damage to his vehicle.

He is being held at the Denver jail for investigation of reckless driving, vehicular homicide, leaving the scene of an accident involving death and DUI.

Police started diverting traffic off of Northbound I-25 just before 4 a.m. in the area of 20th Street so they could finish investigating the accident. The interstate was re-opened around 7:30 a.m.

The victim's name will be released after his family has been notified.
