9NEWS first introduced you to Pevateaux five years ago.

Shortly after she became pregnant with her second child, she was diagnosed with breast cancer. She had surgery and chemotherapy while pregnant and both again after her son was born.

Today, her baby boy, Chase, is now 4 and a half years old. This spring, she celebrated five years as a cancer survivor.

Pevateaux says on the day of her anniversary, she sent her family and friends a message of gratitude on, describing the diagnosis as a defining moment.

"Many things that I do in my life now are because of that defining day. I feel very lucky to have been given a chance to really question how to live a life fully," she said.
