The incident happened near West Second Avenue and Santa Fe Drive Wednesday morning. After the shooting, the suspect barricaded himself into a building for hours.
He was taken into custody by Denver Police Department officers around 2 p.m.
Denver Police say officers were responding to a domestic-disturbance call in the 800 block of West Third Avenue when shots were fired at officers. The call came in at 6:44 a.m.
Police say it does not appear at this time that anyone was injured during the shooting.
Three Denver Public Schools were on lockdown due to the shooting - Fairmont, Denver Center for International Studies and Ace. Fairmont buses being rerouted around the area.
Santa Fe Drive was closed from Fourth Avenue to Alameda Avenue, and West Third Avenue was closed from Inca Street to Kalamath Street as police tried to speak to the barricaded suspect.
Around 1 p.m., the victim who the shooter allegedly was barricading in a building, was released. Police say the victim is safe.
