Along the steeps of Copper Mountain, Nick Gordon is piloting his snow cat along the black diamond Rosi's Run.

"It's nice and steep, has good transitions and a lot of snow for the skiers to go," Gordon said.

Crews are working fast to get the snow ready for the US Ski Team, which will start early season training soon.

The U.S. Ski Team Speed Center opened last year at Copper. It gives racers a vigorous vertical run to train on away from the public.

Copper Mountain Spokesperson Austyn Williams says on Oct. 31 selected season pass and four pack holders will get to ski with the team.

Those who win a slot will also get to ski Copper before anyone else.

"Come out here and actually see the Speed Center," Williams said.

It also means Gordon and his crew have a lot to do. They are racing in their own way to help America's best racers.

"Makes us feel proud to have Copper Mountain as one of the US Ski Team training facilities," Gordon said.

Copper Mountain season pass and four pack holders can enter for that VIP access with the U.S. Ski Team on Copper's Facebook page. The Deadline is Oct. 26, and around 100 people will be picked.
