Frisco, TX (Sports Network) - FC Dallas and U.S. midfielder Brek Shea will be sidelined at least three months after undergoing foot surgery Thursday.

The 22-year-old Shea had a sesamoid bone from his right foot removed, and will be sidelined 12-14 weeks.

Shea had three goals and two assists 21 matches for Dallas this season. He had 11 goals and four assists last season, when he was a finalist for MVP.

On the international level, Shea has played 15 times for the United States.
