Denver'sHouse For All Sinners and Saints, a church of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, is behind it.
Theymake fresh turkey sandwiches and put them in a lunch sack with mayo, mustard, salt & pepper, a pumpkin cookie and stuffing muffin. Each sack has a colorful sticker that says "It sucks you have to work on Thanksgiving. Operation: Turkey Sandwich. Brought to you by House for All Sinners and Saints".
Volunteers go all over town handing them out to anyonethey find who is working from convenience storeclerks tobartenders, to cops, to bus drivers.
They're looking for help for next week's Operation.They need people who can cook or bake. They also need sandwich assemblers and drivers.
Organizers saythey're always pleased to see howgrateful people are to have Operation Turkey Sandwich volunteers suddenly show up at their workplace with a Thanksgiving lunch.
