A curious villager asks what they're making, and the travelers say it's stone soup. They need not but a bit of garnish to improve the flavor, they say, so the villager parts with a few carrots; another villager gives them some seasoning; and, in time, each villager adds to the concoction.

That cooperation, even among scarcity, meant that everyone could take in a bowl of the nourishing stone soup.

Such is the name of an event Tuesday night at the Lincoln Center, a community gathering for families of the High Park Fire. The event kicks off with musical performances, followed by dinner.

Families impacted by the fire will get take their pick among hundreds of donated holiday decorations and toys.
