At 9:06 a.m., a bank robbery occurred at US Bank at 10190 E. Colfax Ave. According to Frank Fania with Aurora Police, the suspects were gone by the time authorities arrived on scene.
The two robbers had hooded sweatshirtsand their faces werecovered. Once they entered the bank, police say shots were fired by both robbers as they moved throughout the bank.
Police do not believe the shots were fired at anyone, but rather used as a tactic.
The suspects left with an undisclosed amount of money.
As a precaution, schools around the area were placed on lockdown as police investigated the case.
The schools on lockdown included:
Aurora West 56-12
Aurora Central High School
South Middle School
ESC4 Administrative Center
The lockdown was lifted after 10 a.m. The bank-robbery suspect is still on the loose.
