Loveland native and current Kansas State University quarterback Collin Klein was one of the top three candidates for this year's Heisman Trophy.
Klein didn't get college football's highest honor. The trophy went to Texas A&M freshman Johnny Manziel.
His extended family gathered in Loveland, Saturday night, to watch the announcement.
His grandfather, Greg Klein, had a hunch many years ago about Collin's football prowess.
"I said when he was two-years-old that he was going to win the Heisman Trophy," he said. "And here it's 23 years later, and he's in the running for it."
Despite the trophy going to someone else, his family remains proud. They say he's a role model for the entire family and young athletes.
Klein now heads to the Fiesta Bowl to take on the Oregon Ducks on January 3.
