Lisa Pinto, communications director for the DA's office, said a body was found in a remote area of Hernando County, north of Tampa. It was tentatively identified as that of Davidson, 45, although a coroner's official ID was pending. The circumstances of his death weren't disclosed.

On Dec. 27, an Arapahoe County grand jury handed down a 20-count indictment against Davidson, the high-profile developer behind the Landmark Project in Greenwood Village, charging him with theft, forgery and embezzlement of public property. Pinto said Davidson was tracked to Bluffton, S.C.

"But nobody could find him, and he eluded capture," Pinto said.
