It happened around 3 p.m. Friday on Colorado Boulevard and East Kentucky Avenue.

Denver police were in pursuit of Craig Dickson, 27, who is wanted in Arapahoe County for sexual assault, burglary and robbery, when the crash occurred.

"Officers were coming through the area, they were attempting to stop the other suspect, and they hit the other vehicle and collided with it in the process," Sonny Jackson, spokesperson for the Denver Police Department, said.

Denver fire crews used the jaws of life to remove the top half of the victim's car to get the two out.

They were transported to the hospital as a precaution. The Denver police officer involved in the crash sustained minor injuries.

After the crash, Dickson ditched his car and fled on foot. Police closed portions of Colorado Boulevard while they searched for the suspect.

Dickson was eventually arrested around 5 p.m. near West 6th Avenue and Broadway.

Dickson's rap sheet is seven pages long and includes multiple charges of theft, drugs, fraud, eluding police and serious traffic violations going back to 2004.
