Denton, TX (Sports Network) - Will Neighbor scored 11 points, pulled down six rebounds and nabbed four steals to lead the Arkansas-Little Rock Trojans to a 62-57 victory over the North Texas Mean Green, in a Sun Belt Conference tilt at The Super Pit.
For the Trojans (14-9, 8-4 Sun Belt), Josh Hagins and James White each also finished with 11 points.
Jordan Williams led the Mean Green (8-14, 3-8), with a game-high 22 points, while Roger Franklin posted a double-double with 20 points and 12 rebounds and Tony Mitchell chipped in 13 points.
Both teams struggled from the field to begin the game, with each shooting an identical 36.7 percent. The Trojans were able to knock down 5-of-8 from beyond the 3-point arc and that allowed them to take a 32-25 lead into intermission. The Mean Green shot 2-of-5 from 3-point distance in the first half.
After halftime, the Mean Green continued to have problems shooting the ball, making just 31.8 percent of its field goal tries. The Trojans shot 47.6 percent from the field in the second half, but missed all but one of their five 3-point attempts. The Mean Green were able to keep the game close by outscoring the Trojans, 16-9, from the free-throw line, though it did miss eight free-throw shots in the second half. After trailing by seven early in the second, the Trojans ran off nine straight points to take a two-point lead, 37-35, midway through the period. UALR responded with an 8-0 run of its own to retake the lead for good, letting North Texas got no closer than four the rest of the way, as the Trojans extended their winning streak to three games.
The teams were an even 20-20 on points in the paint. The Mean Green had a 37-31 rebounding edge in the game.
