LAKEWOOD - A young puppy had little or no chance of finding a home. But a woman in Lakewood is working hard to change that.

Justice was discovered trapped in a piece of wood on a New Mexico Indian reservation. He is only four months old.

His mother and her other five puppies died. Justice was the only one to survive.

Because of what he went through, he is extremely afraid of other dogs and people.

Loraine May agreed to rehabilitate him so that he can find a family.

"He's very traumatized I think he's also suffering from grief," May said. "You know, he's lost his mom, his siblings, his home [and] everything he's known. He's been outside his whole life."

May operates the Misha May Foundation, a dog training and rescue facility.

She says it could take a long time to socialize Justice.

She says he may always have parts of his body that he doesn't want touched.
