DENVER - A company specializing in cremating veterans made good on its promise to return the ashes of a retired Vietnam airman to his family on Tuesday.

Initially, the company lost the veteran's death certificate and failed to get his ashes to his funeral on time.

Amado Sanchez Junior's family wasn't receiving solid answers from All Veterans Funeral and Cremation until 9NEWS got involved.

When 9NEWS questioned the company about the delay on Monday, they admitted 'human error' was involved and that one of their employees misplaced Sanchez's death certificate.

Sanchez's funeral was held on Monday. The ashes were returned to the veteran's family Tuesday morning.

Sanchez's niece says the family is happy to have the ashes, but disappointed with how the company handled things.
