KUSA - Over the next two weekends more than 45,000 volleyball players and their families will be spending time and money, in downtown Denver.
The Colorado Convention Center in downtown is hosting the 27th annual Colorado Crossroads National Qualifier Volleyball Tournament. It is the third largest of its type in the country.
Local businesses in the immediate area are seeing big boosts in businesses. Some have quadrupled their normal sales.
Marcos Pizza, at 21st and Larimer doesn't normally get much traffic from the convention center, but owner Mark Dym partnered up with Visit Denver and the tournament to coordinate shuttle rides to his business.
Dym says he loves the relationship he has built with the tournament and is excited about the potential for repeat business over the years.
"It's not like we're a big chain restaurant," he said. "We're just a little ol' independent on Larimer St. and they've been great to us."
Dym expects a 15 percent boost in business this weekend and next.
The Colorado Crossroads National Qualifier runs through Monday, March 4 and then again Friday, March 8 through Sunday, March 10 at the Colorado Convention Center.
