JEFFERSON COUNTY - Jefferson County authorities are looking for a man who walked into an unlocked apartment and attempted to sexually assault a teenage girl.

The girl was home alone inside her apartment Thursday afternoon near West Bowles Avenue and South Simms Street when the attack occurred.

"She was just there watching TV when all of a sudden her front door just opened and a strange man entered her apartment. He had intended to sexually assault this teen and she was strong and brave and fought back with everything she had until she was able to get him to leave the apartment," Mark Techmeyer with the Jefferson County Sheriff's Department said.

Police say the teen suffered non-life threatening injuries fighting off the attacker.

The attacker is described as a black male, 5 feet 10 inches tall with a thin build, bald, and brown eyes. He was wearing black sweat pants and a black T-shirt.

The girl was able to see the suspect drive away in a 1990's model white Jeep Cherokee.

Anyone with information on this crime is asked to call the Jeffco Sheriff's Office tip line at 303-271-5612.
