DENVER - Denver Police Department Officer Celena Hollis was posthumously awarded a Purple Heart award Friday during a ceremony at the Brown Palace Hotel.
Hollis was killed last summer at a City Park jazz concert after being shot while trying to break up a fight. Rollin Oliver pleaded guilty to second-degree murder last week for Hollis' death.
Police say Hollis' relatives will accept the award on her behalf.
Also honored was Detective Antonio Milow, who shot and killed a gunman during a church service in Aurora, as well as Officers Derek Hancock and Tim Sullivan who captured a group of would-be carjackers in 2011.
