BOULDER COUNTY - Two people are in critical condition after being allegedly stabbed by a homeless man at the Gordon Gulch Campground - four miles north of Nederland.

Around 10:45 p.m., police went to the scene of the crime in the 37000 block of Peak to Peak Highway in unincorporated Boulder County.

The 33-year-old male victim was stabbed in the stomach and the 35-year-old female victim was stabbed in the neck.

Witnesses heard screams from the campsite and saw the suspect standing over the victims holding a knife. The witnesses were able to put the victims in their truck and drive them to the Nederland Police Station. The victims were flown to St. Anthony's and Denver Health to be treated for their stab wounds.

According to police, the victims and suspect had been arguing about the suspect's dog and how aggressive it was towards the other dogs in the area. At some point, the suspect reportedly pulled a knife and stabbed the two people.

The Boulder County Sheriff's Office says the suspect was arrested at Fourth and Pearl streets in Boulder and is facing two counts of attempted murder. He is being identified as 38-year-old Hilbourne Southerland.
