KUSA - Seven years ago, Shannon Galpinbegan a quest for women and girls throughoutthe world. Since then,Mountain2Mountain has grown bigger than she could have ever imagined.

Shannon has lived in Colorado for a decade, and during that time, not only has she became a mom, but she has also given up her job as an athletic trainer and set out to help women and girls realize new opportunities.

She didn't mean to be the first woman to mountain bike in Afghanistan, but she did it and showed the country that it is okay for women to get on bikes.

Afghan tradition deems cycling inappropriate for women and those who considered it were thought to be promiscuous.

Now, there is a professional women's cycling team in Afghanistan, and Shannon is heading back in the fall to help coach and get more women on bikes.
