KUSA - Dropping your phone in a pool of water almost never has good results, but that's something one company says it can change.

NeverWet Spray Coating is marketed as a product that can repel moisture from metal, wood, masonry, aluminum, fabris, leather and canvas. A video demonstration also shows that an iPhone coated in NeverWet was able to come out of a pool of water unscatched.

It goes on sale for $20 this week at Home Depot.

The product as designed by Ross Technology, which was tasked with fixing rusting pipes under the sea, and finding a substance that would coat the metal to prevent it from rusting. That's how NeverWet was born.

9NEWS will tested out the product to see if claims matched reality.
