ADAMS COUNTY - Sheriff's investigators have arrested a man accused of killing two teens who apparently planned to blackmail the suspect, 9Wants To Know has learned.
Families are identifying the victims as Gustavo "Danny" Espinosa-Gamboa and Jonathan Gonzalez, both 16.
The murder suspect, William Dean Otto, 43, is currently locked up in the Adams County Detention Center. A criminal affidavit obtained by 9Wants to Know says one of the young men recorded cellphone video of Otto asking him to perform a sex act and touching him inappropriately.
The young men, according to the affidavit, had planned to extort money from Otto in exchange for not going to police with the video.
According to the affidavit, Otto told investigators he fatally shot the two teen boys because they threatened him.
"The two males came into the residence and handed William Otto a note. They told William Otto they wanted $10,000 each," the affidavit says.
When one of the teens began looking through a drawer full of knives in Otto's kitchen, the suspect said he grabbed a handgun and shot the two teens, according to the affidavit.
Families of the two teens reported them missing over the weekend.
Detectives exhumed two bodies from the location where Otto told them to go in Sedgwick County. The Adams County Coroner's Office performed autopsies Monday afternoon.
Otto made a court appearance in the first degree murder case Monday morning. He remains locked up without bond.
