DENVER - Baby Decker, who weighed barely more than one pound at birth and is named after Denver Broncos wide receiver Eric Decker, is recovering after eye surgery.
He had laser surgery on Sunday. Less than 24 hours later, mom Cherie Murren told 9NEWS Decker's heart rate was dipping and his eyes were very swollen, but otherwise, she says he is doing okay and just as doctors expected. He will have another check up with the surgeon on Wednesday.
Murren said "With this surgery, he will be ready to watch the Broncos win the Super Bowl next year!"
While Baby Decker wasn't able to watch this year's game with his parents, he still showed his Broncos pride. His mom sent us several pictures of him in his Broncos gear. The jersey he is wearing is the smallest jersey that the NFL makes. One of his nurses bought it for him.
9NEWS viewer Chelsey Halbert made him the onesie with the Broncos tie. She also gave him a blanket with his name and Broncos emblem embroidered on it.
There is also a photo of Baby Decker and a sock monkey. Murren said, "The first time he took a picture with that monkey, the monkey was bigger than him!"
