KUSA - A well-known local artist is now facing a personal worst case scenario.

Jess Dubois had been away from his studio in Five Points for a few weeks, but the owner of the barbershop next door called him over the weekend to say he'd better get back.

When Dubois showed up, he found water as deep as five inches from a pipe that broke open during the deep freeze.

"You don't notice it a lot at first until you get closer up, and then you see the wrinkles and wet marks and the problems that it really caused," Dubois said. "But I'm not going to let this stop me from creating because that's why I'm here."

Dubois has worked as an artist since he got out of the Marines in 1950 and is the recipient of several honors, including the Mayor's Award For Excellence in the Arts.
