KUSA - After suffering a fractured rib Saturday, it's no surprise that Nuggets point guard Ty Lawson will sit out their game Monday night against the Indiana Pacers.
Lawson likely will be sidelined Wednesday against the Timberwolves and then get extended rest due to the NBA All-Star break the following week. It's uncertain if he'll need even more time after that to recover.
The Nuggets leading scorer - 18.3 points per game - was forced to leave the game Saturday in Detroit at the very end of the first half when he awkwardly landed on a drive to the lane. Lawson was in serious pain and admitted that he was unable to stand up straight.
With guard Nate Robinson also out (he underwent surgery on his knee and will be out the rest of the year) head coach Brian Shaw will have to rely on Randy Foye and Evan Fournier to handle the ball more and get Denver into their offense.
