FORT COLLINS - A broken 10-inch water main is sending a torrent of water down Shields Street in Fort Collins on Monday afternoon.

City workers said the main probably broke near Shields' intersection with Columbine Court due to the freeze-thaw cycle the city has been undergoing.

Water is flooding basements of adjacent homes. Shields is limited to one lane as workers prepare to repair the break.
