KUSA - The National Retail Federation reports that people are cutting back a bit on Valentine's gift spending this year, but over 37 percent still plan to buy their loved one flowers - which is why Friday will be the busiest floral event of the year and with a dozen roses selling for $40 up to more than $100 depending on the arrangement.

Safeway's Denver Division alone will sell 500,000 stems along the Front Range alone for Valentine's Day, and they have 150 floral managers who are specially trained.

On Tuesday during 9NEWS at 8 a.m., Safeway showed some affordable floral arrangements for every budget and tips about how to make sure you're buying fresh roses that will last.
